RISE Costa Rica — Regenerative Living & Masterplanned Stewardship
The Challenge
An ambitious 800-acre regenerative village required a masterplan storytelling platform communicating complex ecological hydrology, community governance, and sustainable parcel ownership.
Philosophy & Method
We built an interactive, topography-led digital platform blending architectural site elevations, water shed diagrams, and an open-source living charter for international eco-stewards.
Tangible Outcomes
Successfully attracted values-aligned international families, facilitated masterplan approvals, and set a new standard for regenerative land stewardship presentation in Central America.
RISE Costa Rica represents one of the most comprehensive intentional eco-villages in the Americas. Situated on 800 verdant acres in Atenas, the project integrates permaculture food forests, shared renewable micro-grids, Waldorf-inspired communal learning, and regenerative building practices.
The Stewardship Challenge
Real estate platforms in Costa Rica often suffer from predatory commercialism, generic tropical paradise rhetoric, and deceptive render promises. RISE needed a digital interface that demonstrated radical transparency: showing actual contour hydrology, reforestation progression, and the detailed social contracts required to live in an intentional village.
The challenge was presenting immense legal, ecological, and civil engineering data in a format accessible to prospective resident families worldwide.
Philosophy and Method
We treated the website as an interactive environmental monograph:
- Interactive Cartography & Watershed Systems: Visualizing the land through layered topographical maps showing keyline water retention ponds, edible agroforestry zones, and wildlife biological corridors.
- The Living Community Charter: Building a dedicated, version-tracked digital compendium of the community’s consensus bylaws, dispute resolution ceremonies, and architectural green covenants.
- Low-Impact Digital Footprint: In alignment with the project’s ecological stance, the website was engineered for ultra-lightweight static delivery, minimizing data transfer and energy consumption on visitors’ devices.
Lasting Impact
RISE Costa Rica successfully welcomed its first two phases of resident stewards, maintaining a cohesive community vision where ecological balance and thoughtful human cohabitation thrive in equal measure.
"The integrity of Nicolás's approach mirrored the integrity of our land stewardship. A rare designer who truly listens before building."
